MINIMUM WAGE MAP
Pennsylvania is the poorest state in the Northeast. Good for opening a business, not good when you are an employee of a company. The same reason why all of the surrounding states like NY/NJ have 99% of jobs at companies NOT hiring anybody and they haven't been for years. Robots will definitely take many of those jobs, and they already have started.
Pennsylvania is also one of the highest taxed states because it is a Commonwealth which never made sense to me until I did taxes in PA--you have every city, boro, town enacting their own tax on something. Some of the income taxes are not based on where you reside (like 99.9% of the towns in the US) but in addition you are taxed on where you work. For example if you work in York, PA you get to pay an additional 1.1% tax for that privelage of working within City Limits! The other Commonwealths are:
- Virginia
- Kentucky
- Massachusetts
Another way to explain it is that if you took all of the localities in the entire state of PA and added them up, the amount of power they have is greater than the power of the entire state of PA. Note the spelling errors in the image below are courtesy of some rigged AI.
